Correct me if I am wrong here, but does't every major Texas college have an ROTC program that has produced officers in every branch of the military?

they all have ROTC programs; however the only schools with all 3 are A&M and tu. However; A&M is a desginated Senior Millitary College; the only one in the state of Texas.

If I remember correctly, aren't A&M and VMI the only non-service academies with this designation? Seems I read that somewhere, but I can't find it.

Not bashing, just got curious.

kewl...If I recall correctly TTU had all 3 until '95 when they shut down the Navy ROTC.

I am pretty sure the radio station was talking about Leach's quote after the A&M game... I don't think he was disrespecting any of those who server our great country...but I can see how it could ruffle some feathers of those hard core corp guys... Here is the link to texags.com where some aggies are agreeing with leach... Click Here And I did spot some of the TTU faithful dressed in full on pirate gear at the Baylor game...

------------------------------------------------------------------------
As his team raced onto the field, Leach gazed into the stands filled with screaming fans and wondered about the several thousand "cadets" from Texas A&M clustered in one end zone. They wear military uniforms and buzz cuts, holler in unison and stand at attention the entire game.

"How come they get to pretend they are soldiers?" Leach asked.

"The thing is, they aren't actually in the military. I ought to have Mike's pirate school. The freshmen, all they get is the bandanna. When you're a senior, you get the sword and skull and crossbones. For homework, we'll work pirate maneuvers and stuff like that."

----------------------------------------------------------------

god bless our soldiers and keep them safe!

Yup there are quite a few. Have had the pleasure of meeting some fellow Air Force guys from the Citadel good guys. Some of my Army buddies have met some VMI guys and said they're pretty cool also. A&M VMI and Citadel are the big three. A&M and Virgina Tech are very similar as we both have beautiful women on campus. I don't know much about the other programs. Thanks for the link I'm intrested in readion up on their programs

I'm not posting this to bash, just to be educated on the program. My question is what the heck is the point of the Corps? Why not go straight to the Army, Air Force, Marines, etc. if you want to be in the military? Go there work your *** off and become an officer. If that is the plan anyway, why not dive right in and train with the rest of the soldiers that are in the thick of it? Is it to bypass all the grunt work and come out as an officer and not to deal with all the other BS in bootcamp etc.? Once again I am pretty ignorant on the system and what its point is.

everyone has their prefrences; for me I always planed on going to college. Thought I might want to do the millitary but wasn't for sure. Decided to go ahead and do millitary my freshman year here. I guess we do it for the same reasons that the academy guys do it. But don't confuse us with academy ring knockers. At senior millitary colleges you don't go in to "not have to deal with all the bootcamp BS" because your whole freshman year at senior millitary colleges is nothing but BS.

Do the "academy ring knockers" practice the nut to butt dog protection drills and the feel my pain nut squeeze?? Just curious...

I don't get it...some aggies are quick to attack those who disrespect their corp, but turn around and refer to The Military Academies as "ring knockers".
