Any South Dove Success?

Medulla came down and hunted with us Friday afternoon. Birds were thin, but, I was still able to scratch out a limit. Although, it took most of the afternoon. Others in our party didn't do as well. We had a pretty good group but only managed 68 birds. Was really kinda disappointing compared to past years. We are normally literally covered up with birds. The weather has just been to unstable in these parts as of late. But, still enjoyed the camaraderie. My son had a football game this morning. But, we'll be back at 'em this afternoon.

Texasflag4 Winnie

Hunted near Winnie. Friday after noon shot near limits. When back today Saturday around 1 and only shot 4. Not enough hunters in the fields. Hunted a 210 acres field and need about 20 more hunts to keep the bird moving.

Lot of fun just not many shots.

Spots and Dots hunted in George West. Saw a few birds, but they were HIGH and far away. We ended up dropping only 3.

On another note, we saw some LARGE hogs chase a doe across a feild. The porkers wer 3-400 pounds each. By far the biggest I've ever seen alive!

Hunted a recently cut milo field west of Yancey. My son and I got quite a few birds both morning and evening. The winds kicked up to 10-20 mph and the evening shooting was 'challenging'. Had shots at at least 100 birds.

La Pryor

Might need to be called Argentina pretty soon. LOTS of birds. Mournings and white wings. We held out for the whitewings. They started pouring into the field as if on cue at 8:00 a.m. each day.

Full limits for everyone quickly Friday and Satry. Hunting sesame fields on the outskirts of town. Cherry picked shots both days so we didn't have to walk far to pick up birds. It was awesome.

Finished off each day with tacos from Trinies.

Great weekend with nice weather the whole time. Can't wait for next year.

OH ! Aubrey I owe you a half box of shells,** I run out and had to borrow from Aubrey, I dont understand a case of shell should have been enough to get my limit LOL**

Slim pickins at Dilley

Not a lot of birds and too few hunters to keep that those flew into the sunflower field moving. Me and the lab picked a apot under a mesquite tree looking out onto a 300 yard x 600 yard sinflower fioeld just west of Dilley. set up around 2:30 Friday and by 4:30 what shooting there had been was over. Just mourning doves working the sunflowers. No whitewings showed all afternoon and we hung around waiting to see if they'd come over heading back to town. No such luck. I took 5 and, of the guys I talked to coming out of the field, I was high. One guy had 4, another 3 and one party of three guys only had one bird among them. Talked to my brother while driving back to Austin. he and his party had hunted near bay City and had similar results. No limits and scattered totals among the group. Sounds like the guys shooting over sesame fields had plenty of shots.

We started the weekend off hunting near Jourdanton, extremely slim pickins there. 4 guys and we could come up with were 8 birds. We got word of friends down in corpus who all limited out about 5 miles from CC Int'l Airport, that was 7 guys hunting. So we hightailed it down to Corpus Saturday morning. Well my friends hunted the fields close to the airport on Saturday morning also and fairly well. Well, you can guess by now what happend. The birds were apparently scattered by Sat evening. We only came up with about 25 birds between 6 people. Either they were scattered or my bad luck travels with me. Also had friends who hunted near Ricardo and did really good Friday afternoon.

Thanks for the hunt Brad. It was nice to meet all yall.

If anyone gets the opportunity to hunt with TXPalerider, make dang sure you are between him and the birds.

If he is between you and the birds you will need to relocate the man does not miss many.

He had his 12 bird limit with 16 shots! Nice gunning my friend. I also fired 16 rounds but I only connected 9 times. If I end the season with less than 2 rounds per bird I will take it...hahaha...not bad for me for dang sure.

Man that was one long *** ride home! Got up at 2:00am Friday left the house in Splendora and headed to Garwood to hunt the teal ducks. Left there and went to Victoria to dub hunt. Left there headed home took a one hour power nap and headed to Anahuac to teal hunt. Man, I was one wore out son of a gun when I finally got home!

Slim pickings in Pearsall, a few limits out of about 15 hunters. Most got only a few birds each day.
