teal hunting

I got invited to go Teal hunting.

What stuff will I need? Will rubber boots work, or will I need my waders?
What size steel shot is good, and what choke?

Info

Did your buddy say if you're hunting the bay, flooded fields, or a pond? If you have deep water potential, wear some breathable waders, if not, your rubber boots should do fine. Hopefully your dog will save you from getting wet. I shoot #4's with a modified choke at teal and ducks. 2 3/4" are fine, but 3" have more range (more kick tho). Make sure you have your plug in your shotgun if it's not an O/U. Good luck!

Where are you hunting? If you are hunting marsh or rice fields, wear chest waders, bring a can of yard guard, a can of OFF and lots of water to drink. A pair of shorts and a t-shirt for the ride home is nice. If you are hunting a tank or lake, rubber boots or tennis shoes depending on the weather. Helping put out the decoys may require chest waders, but they are hot and sweaty ten minutes into the hunt. Teal hunting is over after about about an hour and a half or so don't over equip. Watch out for stump tails when you are getting settled in.

We will be hunting on the prairie.

I hope I'm not getting set up for a bad joke, but what are "stump tails"?

Haven't seen it mentioned but you need the right stamps on your license. Federal, State waterfowl stamps(certs) and HIP cert. And some misquito spray.
Good luck, if you get into some, you'll be hooked for life.
