looking for a place to fish in SPI or near

I am heading to SPI this weekend and I have never fished that part of the Gulf. I am not bringing my boat so I would like to find some wading spots and some piers I can take the kids to. if anybody knows any spots that would be greatly appreciated.

The highway 100 shoreline along Port Isabel/Laguna Heights is a good area to wade. The surf and the jetties are also good this time of year. You can also try wading the Coast Guard Station flats on SPI, located next to the Sea Ranch Resort.

There is a good fishing pier in Port Isabel before you hit the causeway....located at Pirates Landing.
