has anyone heard of a engine overheating for no reason. my son was running sat. night at k&m in the final and the engine overheated for no reason. it was fine in the first 2 heats. no ajustments were made before the final. i checked it out this morning and it was fine. around 220. he has a smaxx with a 2.5 engine. thanks for any help
The "right" tune on your engine changes with temp, humidity, etc. By teh end of the night my engine was runnigna little leaner than it had been with the temp drop, etc. And your engine temp isn't only related to teh tune. If there was something dragging, binding, etc. that could have caused it too. How hot did it get? As you get towards the end of a tank of fuel your engine can lean out some and the temps will come up a little.
Definitely. It's also hard on your clutch shoes, bell, and bearings. If you want, you can run a little drag brake at idle. But if you do, be sure that the brake is completely disengaged before the clutch shoes catch. The best way to do that is to leave a small gap b/w the pivot and collar on the throttle side. That way the brake releases before the engine starts to rev and engage the clutch.
