Headed down to Hackberry this coming weekend for the first time with a buddy and my dad. Just wanted to know if you guys had any good areas (dont expect honeyholes), or anything we need to look out for. Also where do you get the weekend fishing liscens? Thanks guys
Good place to fish, went out with Tom Addams and got my personal Best trout, 25 3/4 5.5#s , first spot we drifted I popped 3 in no time, total of 10 in 30 minutes. Good Luck
What's the main depth ranges for this lake? Are there lots of reefs? I just have a deep v bay boat and hear great things about the lake and wondering if it's safe to fish in my boat!
the lake averages from 5-7 feet deep.
There is quite a bit of reefs layed out throughout the lake some you should have no worries but be cautious on the far SW end of the lake the old jetties can be hard to see and suprise you quick so just be aware of that for sure. My advice is to pick up a hook and line map and overlook the danger areas and they also pin point some of the reefs to fish.
Fishing has been really good lately reefs are plentiful and birds are working all over the lake.
Also yes you can get a license off of wildlife and fisheries website
Good luck and tight lines fellas
I will send a report yalls way, hoping for a good one. We have never limited out and Im hoping this spot will change that, Ive only heard good things about calcasieu.
BullsBay we have a sea fox with a pretty deep v so we cant get to too many shallow areas either. Luckily we are going with a guy who knows the area real well so we shouldnt have any problems.
