I'd be real interested in seeing the Galveston jetties on a day that was clear enough to see anything. Best i've seen it was greyish/green. No visibility for nothin'. It needs to be awefully dang clear to see much. I've snorkeled the jetties at SPI/Boca Chica, and it is rare when it clears up enough to see anything.
It has been many years ago. We used to go out to the South Jetty in the middle of Summer and catch all types of cool fish for the tank. Water can be very clear from time to time.

I will keep that in mind. Considering that the Galveston Jetties are in the circular flowing currents from the Mississppi, i would have thought they wouldn't ever get clear. I'd love to be able to do a little snorkeling close to home.
I have an old friend who did it years ago. Came home with a few anchors and LOTS of lures. I would imagine on a clear day you could find all sorts of treasure lost by many people. Rods, lures, anchors, who knows what else is out there. Sometimes it gets pretty clear. Let us know what ya find!
i was on the north jetty on the gulf side last year on a slack tide and could see crabs on the bottom in 15 ft of water. it was gen clear for about 3 hours and when the tide shifted again it so back to jetty clean green water. i have never before or again seen it that clear. it was amazing seeing galveston like that
