anchored

Can fish sense a boat thats anchored or feel threatened, we fished where we usually fished except this time we we in a small scooter, the day before the professor slammed them, we had live piggy perch, finger mullet, fished for 6 1/2 hrs thinking at any time they would start hitting not one single bite, we usually wade, just curious?:h eadknock

Yesterdays fishing report is useless, many things can change from one day to the next. Birds, bait, slicks and other signs are what youve got to find.
As far as boats scaring fish, i doubt it unless youre making lots of noise in thd boat. Ive caught lots of fish right at the boat either from a fish trailing my lure or just straight up slamming it out of nowhere.

Saturday was a tough bite across the board. We smacked them pretty good on top for about an hour right after daylight, but it was pretty much over after that for us. If you're not catching them on the bait you were using, they were just not there, or just not eating.

I know how you feel. Yesterday I had perfect sized finger mullet and they seemed extra frisky in the bait bucket. The water was trout green at San Luis Pass and after several hours of fishing, the only bites I had were from crabs stealing my bait. Only one tide in the early morning and then late in the evening didn't help. You know it's bad when even the hardheads are not biting!

he asked if a boat at anchor can turn off a bite. answer is yes sometimes it can. hull slap is the most common problem at anchor. also depends on the depth of water. at times you can catch fish every drift. sometimes during a drift and lets say everyone hooks up, you can drop the anchor then and hammer the fish. other times anchoring is a kiss of death! lots of variables.

Thx capt. david, i usually dont fish on boat, only when they invite, the day before The Professor had caught 12, told me where, so we go, nothing, a kayaker shows up at 6:30 and got the report today he took out 4 reds, he was 100yds to our left, the Professor goes with a friend , his son goes with another friend, and a buddy of his goes with his son, and they take out 21 that was yesterday and I ain't whistlin dixie, thats why i asked cause it was very unusual, we just anchored and threw our lines.
