9 Year Old Son throwing Chicken Boy Lures
Fished the end of the Dike Saturday Night under 2- 1000 watt par cans. Got there at 9pm and as i was waiting on the generator, i turned on the high beams toward the water and started unpackeing a few things. 2 minutes later my son said he needed the ruler to masure a spec. 14" so we threw him back. I swear this next statement is true. he turns to me and says "i got him on the bottom on live shrimp, but go down there and don't potlick!" i busted out laughing. So he gives up shrimp after 20 minutes and me and a buddy are throwing arties and he switched too. I love the fact he ties his own lines and casts and works the plastic, no help needed. so he throws and gets a spec and a few sandies and he switches to a spoon and got another spec. we napped and got up with the sun and drove to Mosquit Island and waded. he said, give me one of those crazy shrimps (Passion pink chicken boy lure i think, i was tired) i had a couple and something kept biting them in half, so i redirected his retrieval and he caught a nice spec but the 17-19 incher spit it at us about 5 feet away. proud of my boy, he fishes hard and no complaints. he said to order more shrimps so i yold him i would let him pick the colors this time.

Great story. One of my proudest moments was when my son started using a bait cast. He practiced, got plenty birds nests, practiced some more and now won't use anything else. Another sad, but proud, moment was when he bought his own boat to take his wife fishing. Lost my little fishing buddy, gained a fishing daughter.
