Firsts

Took the New Baby Cat out on the bay for the first time today. Picked it up in Palacios after Donnie had a different prop put on It. Went to the ramp there and headed along the shoreline to Coon Island area. Caught first of many keeper trout, rat reds, gaff top, and a few hard heads for good measure. Had a chance encounter with a gator just as I was putting on my wading boots, he swam within ten feet of the boat. Had a change of heart about wading that area. Good day exploring, Tres Palacios Bay was very nice, uncrowded, and full of fish action.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1339298191.601455.jpg

The Ol Lady told me I better start carrying next time I go out. Who am I to argue? What are the legalities with carrying a firearm on boat for protection?

I spoke to a local law officer ( that does a little fishing himself ) about the legal issues of having a gun on a boat. He replied - same as your vehicle on the highway. Handguns need to be out of sight. Not on your person unless licensed. He recommended to just carry a short home defense shotgun or rifle

Have one of those cricket 22's I won in a raffle a few years ago. Would be perfect size to carry on a boat. Single shot is limiting, just have to make it count.
