you're getting bad information... i caught a limit of trout and a 38" red at panther last weekend with a 35 mph wind, a shoe lace, and a paper clip.

Green sent!

On a serious note, I have been a Shimano fan for a loooong time. I own several of them and 2 Revos & now a Lews. I bought the Revos in 2009 & 2010. I probably fish a minimum of 40 times a year (weekend warrior) and I haven't needed a professional cleaning or any parts replaced on either one of these reels yet. (I hope I didn't just jinx myself!) All I do is rinse them after each use and oil them once in a while. They still work great! My Shimanos, on the other hand, have needed several bearings replaced and require a professional deep cleaning a minimum of once a year for the 10+ years I've been using them. When someone says that Lews is a Revo that doesn't scare me a bit.

POC, if you have any doubt spend that $200 on a Chronarch. They are still made in Japan and they are great reels.

Thats great advice Bull I have heard good stuff about the Lews as well. Nothing is saltwater proof I think some guys get out dunk em all day let em sit for a couple months and then they wonder why they are corroded. Either way can't go wrong with either choice

I bought one and have used it a few times on my last trios out. I have it matched with a 6'9 falcon with the micro eyes it feels really good but I havent figured out the cast control yet. And I havent had it very long and it has some corrosion on the face plate.

I have grown to love the 7:1 gear ratio. All of my reels are that ratio now in fact. Lew's reels are worth every penny and hold up well. To the OP, go with a St. Croix SC5 blank, incredible blank.

Have slowly but surely traded all my shimanos for lews. Best reals from what I have found.

first i've ever heard of these blanks i think? Look similar in price to the north fork blanks... any more you can tell me about these? i've decided to keep the lew's i take good care of my chit, so i'm not worried too much about the salt getting to it

From all the blanks I have done research on these blanks are the lightest out there and also incredibly sensitive. St. Croix is on top of their game and use the latest technology and materials out there. Many top of the line custom rod makers use them including myself. There are not cheap but are worth every penny and if you were to buy a rod made with these blanks it would cost upwards of 350 bucks. Look them up their website online and read what makes them different. You won't be disappointed.
