Back from Honeymoon-tigerfish and great whites!!!
Well guys and gals, back from our belated honeymoon from Africa. We had a blast and the trip was well worth all the planning and frustration. We spent 2 weeks mainly on Safari from Zimbabwe to Cape town. Most of our trip was in Botswana/Nambibia in small camps, most without continuous electricity, but the game viewing was awesome. I had planned the trip around two main things we wanted to do, the elusive and hard to catch tiger fish of the chobe river and the great whites in Gansbaii, southeast of Cape town. Of course also a lot of game interaction for the wife, and yes she would not let me kill anything!!!!
Spent an awesome few days at Imapalia Lodge for tigers and had a blast. We managed to catch and land 14 fish and lost about 20 others!!! Those things hit like a cement truck and surface like a tarpon, spitting the hook most of the time.
We were also able to view and record a Cheetah kill which is considered very rare and most of the time you just see them with the kill. Our guide at the time, ironically named "Bait" said they had not seen an actual kill yet this year, just the aftermath. We saw all of the "big five" except the Rhino unfortunately.
We ended the trip diving with Great White sharks, which is something I have always wanted to do. There is a very weird feeling being in freezing water, locked in a small cage, thrashing back in forth with the waves, viewing 12-16 foot sharks within arms reach of you. I recommend this to all if you get the chance, it is well worth it.
Glad to be back in Texas though and glad to have internet again to surf 2cool. A few pictures of the thousand we took below. Enjoy
