Question.... When you head out in the morning, where do you stow your rods during travel? This is assuming you're only making a 30-40 minute drive and have another rider in your front seat. Do you disassemble them and stick in protective tubes, lay flat in back of your truck, do they ride up on the tail gate or ride in the rod holders of the boat? This is more for the high end rods. Not the old Ugly Sticks.
I set them in the bed of the truck laying on top of my duffle bag high enough to keep them from coming into contact with anything. last thing you want to do is lay the tip of the rods on the tail gate of the truck
And if you pick me up to go fishing they will ride shotgun with me also. If not, I will meet you there. I have to much money invested in rod and reels to throw in the back of a truck are rod holders in the boat doing 70 down the highway. But that's just me.
Plano airliner rod tube with five pieces of pipe insulation slid in then rod socks inside the insulation, makes them easy to slide in and out. Reels go in reel cases inside a soft lunch ice chest. They still ride shotgun because when i stop to get gas they can be locked up. Never broke a rod or had them stolen
Mine are usually in the horizontal rod holders of my boat with reel covers on or in the bed of my truck.....if I stop to eat or something they go inside the cab.
