I feel bad about typing up this report as I know it is going to make Mike sick to his stomach to hear about how good the fishing was today. Mike is a customer of mine that has been fishing with me on a regular basis for the last few years. He was scheduled to fish with me today but unfortunately had to call and cancel late Sunday evening because of work. His misfortune turned into being one hell of a fishing trip for Dwayne and Jeb. Dwayne called yesterday to see if I had any openings this week and today was it. He called me back forty-five minutes later and said that they were on the way!
Dwayne was talking about having a fish fry early this morning before we had even made a cast, I'm glad they had that kind of confidence and it's even better that things worked out! We let every trout over 20" swim and kept their two limits of trout along with a couple of redfish. We easily limited on redfish also but they were more interested in keeping trout. We probably released three or four limits worth of trout along with several limits of redfish, the best part was the majority of the fish were on top. Dwayne was fishing a bone MirrOlure Geaux Dog and Jeb was throwing a speckled trout pattern GunDog Dummy. Today was not any specific kind of pattern or technical bite as we keyed in on the reds and specks both chasing mullet and shrimp to the surface. We were able to sight cast to most of the redfish making it even more enjoyable.
Hopefully tomorrow will be as good with the camera crew on board, we will see!
