Anyone have any information on brown tide down in the corpus area ? Was thinking about making a trip this weekend but have heard some rumors about the area being hit with brown tide thus the fishing not being so great. I would appreciate anyone with first hand information to chime in.. May need to try an alternate plan if this is the case.. Thanks folks
I just went over the JFK Causeway bridge at the ICW and the water looked really clear, the nicest it has appeared in months. But haven't been on the water to know for sure.
Fished a week ago and brown tide was bad from the pure oil channel all the way to the mouth of Baffin...clearing further south and near the causeway. In the last week I am sure that has changed but it was still really bad in many places.
I just returned from there this past weekend. I spent all week down there and the brown tide is bad making fishing tough for lure fishing. The water in the the Rockport area is great though..Good Luck.
Yup, brown tide is still here from the Boat Hole south to at least Pure Oil. That's as far south as I ever go so I can't say what it looks like further south. Also LOTS of dead grass floating on the surface because of the brown tide blocking sunlight to the grass. Corpus Bay and points north are clear.
water is pretty ugly from bird island to mouth of baffin. Gets better from there south. Fished it all yesterday (Monday). You can still catch fish, but if you go strictly artificial, you're gonna have to work for it. Everyone's getting hits on shrimp and croaker.
I live on the west end of Baffin. I ran the entire length of Baffin a few days ago and the brown tide has consumed the entire system all the way to the Intracoastal. Not sure how far it has spread North and South of the mouth. Good luck, wos
Hey Folks, just returned today. Stayed north and found some good water around deadmans and Shamrock and managed to put a few in the boat. We had to work for them though. Water is still pretty bad. Hope it clears up soon
