Slow boated out of the jetties around 11 Saturday night got to hill tops around 6 Sunday mornin came across some good weed line near west cervesa put out the trolling lures found it was more scattered than what we thought so thinking the lures were fouled with seaweed prolly bout to give up on the trolling lures right corner starts screaming out line my dad grabbed it we got other lines cleared out we thought we had big wahoo but started another run out then the show had started everyone started screaming blue marlin he danced across water prolly 4 times for along time then went down and my dad finally got him up to boat bout 45 mins later first bill I've ever leadered and billed I was prolly just as excited as my dad after we got hooks out and clean release we pulled little longer no knock downs...tired and worn out from marlin and boat ride out we decided to go deep drop for the first time first drop drag starts screaming out thinking we had a sword little did we know we pull up a 20# tilefish well that's the first tilefish we've ever caught too well we send another bait down this time I get it off bottom in time and soon as I get up we get bit starts pullin drag and get harnessed up and we fight him prolly 15mins before hook pulls well worn out and tired we did one more drop this time we whacked but never could get bite so reel up and start back in with east wind bout 15knots it was a wet one comin in but all in all it was great trip we could've just caught marlin and been all worth the trip out will try to get video of marlin uploaded to
That is great first all around glad you GOT TIGHT even if the hook pulls it was practice. Looks like a fun day on the water better than being here at work.
Congrats on the blue...I know how it feels!!! I got one too last week for the first. It is an awesome feeling!! Looks to be about the same size boat as mine?
