I am calling on fellow 2Coolers for advice. I want to charter a boat to go out to the Chandaleurs for fishing and it looks like August is the closest I can hit a Thursday boarding. There are several good looking boats on the internet - the Jokaswild is already booked up- but I am not familiar with any of them. This is a big deal for me and I don't want to blow about seven grand on a bad trip. I know it's against the rules to say negative things so I would appreciate some good recs.
Time is running short on me so I need your help now. Thank you.
Do a search and you'll find a pile of information about the islands.
Double Trouble does a great job at very reasonable prices. My all-time favorite, though, is the VI. Costs a little more, but well worth it in my book. Have taken many trips with Captain Dennis and never came back less than overjoyed!

I guide for most of these boats out of my yf jokas wild is the top boat but very tough to book. Capt Dennis is probably my favorite on the VI he has an awesome crew that even on their days off you can find them down at chandy. Capt dean on the beach water is another great guy. Try to go late in august as the fishing is just starting to get good again about then
You can catch a day charter from Venice or Hopedale and fish Breton and Gossier Islands. Plenty of limits caught there this week by waders. Also try Big Fish Charters I think he pulls your boat or you can meet up on his boat and overnight.
Chandeleur Island Charters - Captain Troy Fountain on the "Double Trouble". We fished with them Monday and Tuesday. Check out my thread "Chandeleur Island trip". I posted a report. Great crew, nice boat, good food and a bunch of fish! Add in a few cold ones at the end of the day and you have an epic adventure!
