Do you use artificials at the jetty?

I am headed down soon and havent tried this before. Do you use topwater or soft plastics? If fishing at night is it essential to have lights on the water to catch fish?

Lastly, if you see fishing chasing bait is it better to throw topwater or something under the water?

Thank you for all your help!

the answer is yes, yes, yes, and yes!

seriously, it just depends on a lot of factors.

I've hit 'em on tops, plastics, sinkers, corky's, spoons and everything in between. I've also been skunked on everyone of these baits out there as well!!!

just try what you think the conditions are asking for and see what happens!

I am assuming just fish the rocks horizontally. Also tails I guess would be a good thing to try and maybe under a cork?

Could they work at night with no lights?

I have epic days with a 51 series mirrolure. If they are there it will catch them. I promise.

They will work at night without lights. With lights though..it's on. I find that plastics on heavier leadheads do well, along with deep diving plugs an crankbaits. Topwaters? work great around the base and in water 6' or less. Early summer, the trout colored skitterwalk is deadly at the base of the South Jetty in Galveston

Thanks for all the great information!

I am not sure how productive these would be but I have a stand with two 500watt light bulbs and its pretty bright, would it work?
