I talked two friends into Mercs recently, both 225 Pro XS, and we put a new Opti-Max 150 on my wife's boat in January. My friends are new to the Merc brand; lovin' 'em so far. The one on my wife's boat is our sixth Merc since 1996. You can bet I would have already switched brands if I was not happy. Excellent motors in my book!

Tom, My kid and I have been running a small 4 cycle Mercury for 2 years now. I did go thru about 6 months of agony of poor performance. I then found that the gas line PROVIDED with the motor was dissolving due to the ethynol in the gas. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!

So, when you get the motor, throw away the silver color fuel line and go get HEAVY, black fuel line.

That is all.....thanks.

Guess I should have wrapped up my statement with the same closure. Once I got the fuel issue resolved, I am amazed at how nicely the Mercury performs. 4 Stroke sure has the torque.
