Wading Matagorda.

Me and a few buddies are heading to Matagorda to do some fishing with Capt. Walt in the morning. We will most likely be wading. My dilemma is if I should wear my breathables or wet wade. What do y'all recommend. I've never fished the area before so I'm not sure what the bottom is like and if tennis shoes wet wading would work. Thanks!

it depends if you are fishing east or west. I fished both bays 3weeks ago and it was a nice wet wade. little chilly at first but nice when the sun came up.

You wont need waders, water is plenty warm, so go wet. You should wear something to protect yourself from rays.

I was afraid of this. Won't have time to get anything, looks like I'll have to do the stingray shuffle.

Is the bottom mostly hard?

West is mostly hard, east is pretty variable depending on where he has you wade... this time of year i'd assume you'll be on sand /grass edge and that will be hard.

Walts Awesome... guy is full of knowledge and willing to share / teach. Good guy.

Sounds good. I'm hoping we can get on them early and get that topwater bite before it gets to warm, these past couple of days have been pretty warm. Nothing like watching a trout inhale a topwater with the sun breaking the horizon in the morning!!

We're actually fishing with this Walt, I've read good things about him as well though.

FYI.....Topwaters are not just good in the am. You can throw them all day and catch fish.
