It's late but Wesley told me I need to post reports more often so I'm going to keep this short and to the point. Excluding this past Saturday my days have been filled with a whole lot of catching going on. While the wind had pretty much all of Sabine hammered last week and the catching went to pot over there I was hiding out in Keith Lake. We caught loads of trout and redfish hustling shrimp and ribbon fish to the surface. I only had one fish over 4.5lbs but the catching was as good as it gets. They were absolutely jumping all over a bug juice Killer Flats Minnow on an 1/8oz jighead in the stained water.
The bite I was on in Keith Lake slowed down dramatically for me on Saturday so at 10:00 that morning we put the boat back on the trailer and went to Sabine to salvage the rest of the day. We caught some solid trout on a Woodpecker Flush but Casey landed the best trout of the day on a bug juice Killer Flats Minnow. It was a little over 6lbs and after a quick picture he let her swim off to make some more.
The water in the channel and on the south end has cleared up dramatically and the fishing is absolutely incredible right now. We are working multiple programs from catching them on topwaters in 2' of water to fishing the breaks with tails to catching them under birds. With Charlie and Wesley running late yesterday Bennet and I went ahead and got in about thirty minutes of fishing while we waited on them to show up. We nearly had a limit of trout along with two reds and two flounder when we picked them up and it only got better! We ended the day with their three limits of trout and redish with four bonus flounder and released as many. Our best trout absolutely destroyed a Woodpecker Flush when the topwater bite went off between 11:00-12:00. Charlie had the biggest trout that went about 6lbs but didn't even reach the 25" mark. We finished off the last four trout of our limit underneath birds. The fish were thick but there was quite a few undersized trout mixed in. We caught the majority of our trout and reds on a pumpkinseed bone Killer Flats Minnow.
