Work mesquite bay question (another winward/leeward?)

how's the water looking? with these strong winds lately, is it turning up a bit? thinking about putting in at goose this weekend and heading over that way. still can't make up my mind if i want to fish the SW shoreline or head over to Bray's and/or the reefs going into Ayres... guess it all depends on how the windward/leeward shorelines look!

did i mention this is my first **** REAL fishing trip since september????? Do not remodel a house, get a puppy, and get engaged all at the same time... lesson learned...

looking forward to catching some fish

Was there this past weekend...water from Cedar Dugout all the way through Mesquite/Ayers looked awful, but was to be expected with the wind last weekend (didnt make it to the south shoreline of Mesquite - found decent water, along with a ton of boats on the south shoreline of SA bay). Hopefully will be clearing up as the wind lays.

that's what i was afraid of. if the winds stay SSE the water back on the airport (? i've always called it that) shoreline should be clear and fishable. looks like i might give that a try first and then maybe cruise over to Bray area.

I was in Mesquite the last couple of days. We had relatively light winds and the shorelines were in great shape. Trout are in the grass and sand now, don't think I would spend much time on the reefs right now. Fish shallow.

I won't be too far away, i plan on wading the Ayers shoreline in the morning, just a long boat ride to get there.

yup, sure enough, the trout were shallow, pulled out some decent trout and even a drum that inhaled my buddies cordell broken back right after a red missed it. really have never seen so many boats, one or two turned into scattered boats every few hundred yards. drove around and found some better water with bait, but fishing was a little tough still. got off the water at 2, cleaned the boat, sat in the pool and made fresh fish tacos all in all it was a good first trip of the year
