I hope this is how this year is going to go. I have not been able to fish much for the past few years and when I did go the fishing or weather has left a lot to be desired. But I have had two great trips in the past three weeks.
I got an invite from my friend Jeff to do an overnighter from Pcola out to the rigs. The target was swords and yellowfins. We got both Like me, Jeff is low key, but fishes hard, never gives up and knows a lot about the ocean.
The best part was that I was able to share the experience with Stacy, who got her first of many species.
Nice fish and that water looks beautiful. I didn't know there were rigs out of Pensacola?!
By out of pensacola, the author means that's where they left from. As far as rigs go, they're everywhere from mexico east to the florabama state line. No rigs east of that line yet.
We fished Marlin and Horn rigs. Just a note to clarify. The smaller sword came later and was wrapped up and injured from the hook, otherwise we would have released it since we had a better one already. But no since turning it back just to die. It was all well vacuum packed right at the dock and will be enjoyed for many months to come.
Also, these were my first swords. I will be looking for bigger ones in the future for shizzle.
