Gsd 24
Anyone been playing with the new one yet? I just got it and I will have the install complete this week. Can't wait to try it and see if it makes a difference from the GSD22 I had.

We had troubles with our GSD22 system and Garmin replaced it under warranty with the GSD24. Made a big difference for our system (Airmar B164 transducer) - better sensitivity to illuminate fish/bottom and greater depth penetration. I had to play with it a while as it has more functionality. Landed on "gain" of "auto high" and had to adjust the "Scroll" and "Pic Advance" speeds to have it scroll appropriately across the screen. I believe I can clearly tell the difference between bft (smaller, white line/arc)and yft (larger line/arc with red/yellow density showing) now. Well worth it for us from a results perspective to make the change. If anyone is getting a transducer to go with it, I recommend the M264 shoot thru hull over the thru hull B164 as the former has more elements and is much more sensitive (mark fish).

But then you're stuck with mounting another unit for water temp or losing water temp entirely. I'd rather be able to sense water temp versus what's on the bottom. I don't spend much time bottom fishing or fishing at the floaters.

Recently upgraded to a TM260 and suspect the GSD24 would drive it better than my GSD22. Have yet to get out deep and play with it. I also suspect I'll like the TM260 over the stock POS xducer I had.
I'm told SemperFi (from the THT board) will be in the area some time this summer with his demo boat and plan to do a side by side comparison.
See ya out there!

Shredded, i just switched from the 22 to the 24 and it seemed to really help me out. I was losing even simple depth with my 22 at around 600 feet depth. Ran out Good Friday and with the 24 installed i was getting really good bottom detail even at 1200 feet off the East Breaks. I dont think the 22 was putting enough juice to the Airmar transducer, according to Airmar & Garmin both. Anyways, the 24 seemed to fix my issues...

semperfi talked w me a month of so again and said the GSD24 paired w the B260 was a great digital setup and marks targets at speed and if you wanna spend another 30% go the the GSD26 w a B265 and get the Chirp capabilities

I've got the gsd 22 currently, and couldn't tell you what xducer.. I know it's an Airmar 1kw, but can't for the life of me remember what model it is.
Short story long, I've been having problems reading bottom at speed and it's either hit or miss when it decides to work. Sometimes it won't read bottom 30' deep in the cut. Sometimes it read 300' like a champ. Works great at idle... Do you all think the gsd 24 would be a good upgrade to solve this problem?

1kw and a gsd22 should read 1,000' easy. You may have your transducer in the wrong place. Ask semrefi over on THT he knows about everything there is to know on transducers.
