Question Dang it! I chipped my gelcoat!

Very rough and windy weekend! Went out anyway. Should have stayed home!

Trying to side up to dock and bashed my baby on the edge above bumper pad. Won't sink my boat, but I'm that guy who can't live in peace and harmony while looking at this chip! Chip is only 1/8" deep and fiberglass looks O.K.

Yea, I could take it to a fiberglass/gelcoat repair guy, but I live in Leakey, TX.- Long way from those kind of services.

Any of you ever try and repair a ding like this before?

How do you match the color?

Advice?

Experience?

MarineTex...make sure you get white & not grey. easy as they come. You can try getting a gel coat repair kit (never had any luck with them myself) also but you will like the way the MarineTex looks once sanded & buffed...should almost match perfectly on your hull.

If you want a Professional repair, call Steve Robichaux in Seguin - he may come across as kind of a low key fella, but trust me when I say Steve is a pure professional and his work is top of the line! I don't give praise like that often..

Agree with above ..white marine tex... If you hate it take it to a glas guy at the end of the season. I bet you won't notice it with the marine tex after a while. I had a 21 Mako with a BUNCH of offshore bottom weight chips ..filled all of them with MT and did not look back.
