Have an older 22ft tunnel hull boat with an 150 that when I am running and the motor is jacked up into the tunnel runs fine in a straight line. When I make a turn the motor I think cavitates and my concern is the water pressure drops from 15 psi to 0 psi throughout the turn. Would a cavitation plate help this and is there any other way to prevent this. It doesn't bother me other than I don't want to blow up my motor. thanks
A prop may help the cavitation problem better. The loss of water pressure makes me think you may have the wrong water intake screens on your motor. What brand motor are you running?
It is an 02 Evinrude 150 with an 3 blade on it. If the prop cavitates does it disrupt the water entering the screen in front of the prop? Had the boat since it was new and thats the way the dealer set it up.
Put the high flow screens on it if you can find them. Had a similar issue with a 2011 etec and WP went from about 6 lb at max elevation to about 18 lb at max elevation. Sounds like you may need a new or different prop as well. Call Baumann in Houston or jack with crossroads in pt lavaca and talk to them.
