St. Croix Rods

Just curious as to everyone's opinion of them.
I think its finally starting to get through my thick skull that cheap stuff is more expensive in the long run. Tired of purchasing crappy rods and reels and having problems with em so I'm moving up to better stuff.
I have a Pflueger President 6740 reel that I got as a gift and I'm looking for a rod to go with it for trout and bass fishing. Someone at Gander Mountain highly recommended a St. Croix 6'6 medium spinng rod for around 100 (possibly 110?). Just wondering if I'm going to drop that kind of money if it was worth it. I'm pretty good about keeping my stuff clean after trips and wanted to know if they would hold up well in a saltwater environment. Mostly wanted to use it for some wading in the surf. The reviews on it are good but I wanted to see if anyone who wasn't trying to make a sale had an opinion on em.
Thanks in advance and tight lines.

I bought 4 St croix rods a number of years ago from tackle town. Paid about a hundred dollars a piece. In my opinion they are worth the money. I bought them for my family to use when staying with me at the coast. They have been used and abused and ten years later they are all still in good shape. For a hundred dollars they are good rods.

I have a custom rod made with a St. Croix blank, one of my favorite rods. It's 12 years old now, but still brings in the fish.

I probably have around 8 - 10 St Croix rods. I have used everything from 10' glass casting rods to Ultra light spinning rods to 7 wt fly rods and can't come up with a negative thing to say about them. One caveat, the last one I bought was about 5 years ago. Haven't really had to buy a rod since, so I don't know what their newer models are like. I do love their older ones though.

My primary conventional tackle salt rod is a 7' St Croix casting rod with a Abu Garcia Revo inshore reel. I've been back home in Texas for two years now and have been using it in salt with no adverse effects.

Guy in the boat with me alot has about a dozen: casting, spinning and fly rods, some old and some new...he fishes hard and won't buy anything else! I've slung their fly rods a couple of times and really like them.

Their high-end rods are among the best you can buy and are made in Wisconsin, the good ol' US of A.

I've owned at least thirty (30). They are (matched with any Shimano reel) are the best! I just bought one of their new RAGE spinning rods in a ML and Ex-Fast power (7 ft.) but haven't had it on the water yet, but man, does it feel great!! CF?

I have 2 St. Criox and I bought my daughter a 6'6" spinning rod. Like any other rod, all blanks are different. You can't go wrong with a St. Criox, but you need to do a hands on test. Don't buy one on-line. A friend did and it was a pretty limber rod for a medium action. I tested all 3 rods I bought and found the ones I liked. I went through about 15 rods before I found the right ones.
By testing, I mean I went to the store and felt the balance, I whipped the rods in the air as though I was making a cast. Like I said, all blanks are different. find the one that suits you.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Probably going to make my purchase this weekend.
I played around with them a little bit when I was up there and they sure felt nice. It'll be nice to have a quality rod for once. Lol.

I build on St Croix a lot and they are great rods. While I can't beat their prices on the lower end rods, I can on the higher end SC-4's and SC-5's and add some killer wraps and grips. Can't go wrong with any of their rods.
