Printer

Here it is tax time and my printer fails. Need to know how to determine if it's a software or hardware issue for a Canon MP360.

If disconnected from the pc, should it still be able to make copies?
And Should nozzle check still work?

All it's doing is making a smudge track down the center of the paper whether it's connected to pc or not.
Any good Canon printer forums to maybe find a solution?

With printers under $150 it's not work paying a techie to fix it, unless he can do cheap.

Any suggestion for a new light duty all in one home printer?

I'm not familiar with that printer. Most times when printers make smudges, it's from dust (it gathers up like little bunnies and drags ink across the paper). It should have some type of cleaning process (cleaning the heads, deep cleaning tests, aligning, etc.) Ink will also dry up on the printer heads and cause problems. On some printers you can remove the heads and clean or soak with a solution to get the dry ink off. Best to look in the manual for instructions or maybe the Cannon website

I've done all the nozzle and head cleanings. It's not printing across, just makes one smudge track down the center.

Would a corrupted driver cause a problem like that?

Trash it. Not worth the time or the $ to repair. Go down to your local Best Buy / Frys or Office xxx and see what that have in your range
