In the car world on LS1 and LS2 GM motors, the Kooks stainless are the go to brand for real performance gains, good fit, and durability.

If this is your daily driver I wouldn't. If your not really really turning the rpms like in drag race scenario then no need. The factory manifolds are pretty dang sufficent, they're almost already like a shorty header. And I would bet that you have yet to melt a plug wire or anything else that got to close. And the factory manifolds probably don't leak.

But on the otherhand they would complement a coldair high flow cat and muffler and a good tune. Make sure you pop for a coating ceramic or jethot etc. just make sure they are coated inside and out. Also make sure you get some that have a good thick flange that is less likely to leak.

A lot of the truck guys are running Pacesetters. Check with Texas Speed and Performance, I believe they have a sale on the black Pacesetters for that year truck.

I did the Kooks with the 3" catted x-pipe on my LS3 with a tune and gained 39HP & 40 ft lbs TQ through the stock mufflers. Had them Jet Hot coated. They aren't the cheapest but the quality is excellent. Come with a spiked merge collector.

X2 - I've got Kooks long tube headers and Corsa exhaust. Good combo
