Get to a neurosurgeon and get evaluated. You can do permanent damage to yourself by delaying treatment. Go to the medical center. PM me if you want info on the doctor I used, he's conservative and won't cut on you unless it's needed.

Man a couple of years ago I had the same problem. I went to a chiropractor and it helped a lot. I went 3 times a week for 2 weeks and felt like a new person.

I sometimes use a product called Biofreeze. It comes in a gel. It wont take all the pain away but it surely helps. I have recommended it to friends in the past and it has helped them as well.

Glucosamine Chondroitin daily, Ibuprofen 800mg every 4-6 hours as needed, & a heating pad on low heat whenever possible. You should really get a MRI to ensure it can be nursed back to health without surgical intervention. And yes, it will take a doctor to write an order for the MRI, & to read the films. Most of the time nerve tissue damage is irreversible

good link. i herniated two disk also when i was 17. stretching is the thing that helps most with physical therapy and staying strong. don't feel bad about laying down, you gotta do that to help it get better. don't rely on Aleve and Advil, you may feel better but then you develop ulcers.

Where do I get the dude with the table on the beach? Would prefer a female in a bikini to do the stretching, but that beach will suffice.
JK. Those are the stretches that my chiropracter uses on me. They do give short term relief, but I have to start doing them at home as well, because I'm in the same situtation as the OP and it's effecting everything from work to play.

I had a very similar thing happen to me. I could barely walk. The guys that were at my cabin had to carry my bags from the cabin to my boat and from my boat into my truck. I have been to a neuro-muscular doc who sent me to a rhumatoid doc. He said the rhumatoid docs know more about joints than orthos. The pain ran from my hip to my knee and in my groin. After a little pushing, bending and twisting the neuro doc said the pain came from the nerves in my hip. He described my symtoms exactly. The nerve in the hip causes referred pain in the knee. The rhumatoid doc put me on an anti-inflamatory (mobic) and gave me a few exercises to strengthen my hip muscles. These docs are at St. Lukes. I would highly recommend them.
