Jeep question
Im looking for an old Jeep in lieu of a golf cart for the Bay house. It will be used for running to the beach and errands around the west end. I would like an older CJ because they are basically indestructible, easy to work on and there are lots of aftermarket parts for them.
I'm having trouble finding market values for them. I've found a few decent examples, but prices are all over the map.
Anybody have a good source for this?

4500 is about the right price of one that runs fairly well and is in fair condition asthetically. They dont go much below that unless its a heap.

I glance at cj prices and you will find them from 1500 for a piece of **** on up to 20,000 for mint or totally restored/ upgraded models. Most common price range for decent jeep is 5-8k. It's kinda hard to peg a value on them because there is so much difference in condition. You just kinda have to know the market and what you are willing to pay. Kinda like buying a used boat

A CJ that runs, body in good shape, has a top and decent tires will be around 5k or more depending on Mods.
You can find a newer 4 banger for around 3k that is in good shape.
Southeasttexas.com is a good place to watch pricing. Lot of jeeps sold on this site and at times you can find a great deal

I'd like to stay in the 5-8 range. So it sounds like I'm in the ball park. I've found a couple of decent examples in the 8 - 10 range.
I'll keep looking. Thanks for the link JR. I didn't have that one.

I know you said you were looking for a CJ but this is a pretty nice jeep for 7995.00 on the select jeeps website:

get the cj7 if poss longer weelbase
4sp std. preferred over auto
6cyl or v8 renegade
i would look for one inland that has not been tricked out
old jeeps rust , look for that
also put in 4wd and turn in tight circles and listen for pops, front end has issues
$5k is pretty avg. for anything street legal
