The bard grows back. Have seen them with as many as three barbs. I cut the tail off above the barb and release them. They seem so happy swimming off in circles. My boy got hit wading this summer in the foot buried the bard about three inches in his foot. Took better than a month for the hole to heal closed. He said he has never felt pain like that before.Becareful if your going to handle them.
Use a double barrel. That way if you do blow a hole in the bottom of the boat you can blow another one to let the water out.
Great info right there!!!!! This is way I'm come to 2cool. After the first shot I would think I was was screwed but I now know to blow a second hole for letting the water out. Lol
Thanks for that I needed a good laugh

It takes 6 months for the barb to grow back. just throwin that out there
Don't cut the tail off, cut the line like everyone says. I usally take my knife and slide it under the barb and slice it off, another one will grow back. I have caught a lot of big stingrays over the years and (knock on wood) never been hit by one. Here is a pic of one that was about 150lbs.
How about gumbo. Seen about everything else in it.
Seriously look at the pxs put up last year of the fool that put a good sized one in the boat to mess with and see what happened when you
1 do not know what you are doing
2 ?? enough to put a big one in the boat to begin with.
I foul hooked one while wadefishing a quarter mile from the boat....spent fifteen minutes dodging wild runs straight at me and trying to figure out how I was gonna get it off the hook....finally figured taking it back to the boat was the safe bet!
