Snapper, Ling & a Tow

Three of us went out through San Luis pass in the Sea Craft this morning at dawn to run about 15-20 miles out for some snaps and whatever else we could find.
The wind was supposed to be light NE and the seas 1.6'.
It was blowing harder and more Easterly and it was a choppy but an uneventful trip out to a rig.
It took us about three hours to get our three limits with the fish running maybe 3-10#. We also boated three ling with Tom's being the largest and released several others.
We got ready to come in at noon so we could catch the game and cranked up the boat............then it died. It would start but not run, so we went to work on it to no avail.
We had noticed the only other boat we had seen all morning was maybe a mile away at a pipe stand so we radioed and a miracle......they not only had the radio on but answered our hail. Tom explained the situation and they said they were fishing a while and would come over in a bit.
About two o'clock we tied the tow ropes and headed in at 7mph. We got back to the ramp after 4:00.
It turns out Capt. Billy Howell was onbord the boat with the two fine
gentleman from Houston that saved our bacon today. Billy's a local and guided out of Jamaica Beach for years.

Nice Ling Kenny! Great job with the tow Capt. Howell and party. Yeah, this time of year its comforting when you see other boats around. Alot of times I've gone out of the pass and seen NO BOATS anywhere close. Dont know if towboats us would be any help from there?

He'll get it fixed, heck it may start tomorrow although I think it's the fuel pump.

kenny did you fish out of the pass last sunday? we saw a 21 sea pro leaving about 715-730. was that you?

We did fish last Sunday and we laeft around6:30-7:00, but we fish my fishing partners SeaCraft.

Your whole problem was you took spiderman (aka known as the owner of the homemako). Nothing wrong with your boat it just did not want to bring spidey back to the dock.

From an unfortunate experience, Towboats US will come get you, but may not be able to tow you back through SLP. When I broke down this summer, they brought us back into Freeport because they were worried about getting their boat through the pass. Once in Freeport, they gave me a ride to pick up my truck and trailer.

The Towboats US contact we had was with Tempest Marine Services. Good crew!

We wouldn't call Tow Boats, we would have called a friend in JB to come get us........after the game. LOL
