DOA shrimp...How do I use them so they're gonna work like a real shrimp and any other pointers would be AWESOME...
Popping Corks...How do I use them effectively...
What other arties work for Specks...
Im trying to actually have a tackle box with stuff IN it but hooks and swivels. I'd like to have options for when my shrimp die or the crabs are pickin' me clean...
If I use a popping cork, I'll tie on a Cajun Thunder popping cork with a 2 1/2 ft. to 3ft. leader depending on the depth... I'll tie a 1/16oz. jig head on and thread on a 3" molting GULP shrimp. It will produce specks and reds. I would also look over on the TTF website, they have a new popping cork line of shiney hiney shrimp and popping cork combo coming out soon. DOA works well under the cork, but I have had better luck with GULP and a light jighead.

realistically speaking there is no real way to make DOA's work like REAL shrimp. However, doa's (and gulp) work wonders under an almeda cork when live isn't an option. WHEN i use a popping cork, i usually use a midcoast inticer with about three feet of 20lb test. Attach what you will to the end but when working it, do what the name basically says, pop the cork. it makes a slurping-ish sound that imitates trout feeding and gets em' riled up. I personally use doa's most when sightcasting to redfish with light spinning tackle, more times than not the redfish will inhale them. speaking trout though, i like bass assassins and big nasty voodoo shads paired with 1/8th oz jigheads, those two baits are generally the only genre of baits i throw. hope this helps.

x2 on the DOA under corks, if you are close to structure/banks, drop offs, etc. you might want to give a shot at free-lining using a light setup. One thing I have noticed about them is that it's easy to overwork them. That is, when you let them drop they fall down like shrimp do, but if you are reeling them fast they start wobbling too erratically for my liking.
