It IS a millipede. Harmless. If you are getting lots of them check outside your house to see if you have mulch or leaves up next to the house. Clean around your foundation and yard and they should decrease.

millipede.. pretty much harmless.. except one night I was eating popcorn in front of the TV and fell asleep I rolled over and felt something that was like peice popcorn, it was one of these dudes, I crush it and the body fluids is high acid base,, I got me a funny little burn on my belly.
but I lived...really glad I didn't pop it in my mouth,,lol

Thanks all
Looks like Bay Gal got it right, with Narceus americanus (except at the top of the page), except it has yellow stripes, not red, but otherwise looks identical.
I wasn't worried about it. I like bugs, and don't like to kill them unless they're dangerous pests, except cockroaches which can't hurt you but are so disgusting they deserve to die! And of course mosquitoes. And flies.
Okay, so there are a lot of bugs I don't like. I have a can of RaidĀ®. But I sure wouldn't use it on Narceus americanus.

It might have been pretty good with some parmesan cheese. Try it on your popcorn and millipedes. You could neutralize the acid with TUMSĀ®.

Reason: Corrected spelling of millipedes.
