Those people know a good business when they see one . At least its not Wally world. I doubt they will mess with success. Can't blame the family. The good thing is a bunch of cash is coming to Texas. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Family will retain a minority interest but those things usually don't end well when big business starts changing things....KKR is probably one of the better VC firms out there though

KKR started out as a buy/breakup group; hope they've changed their spots. This can go either way, either a great thing (they don't mess with a successful regional business model as a specialty retailer) or a bad thing (it becomes Dick's or Gander Mountain, or flipped to someone like them, and they dumb it down to only stock prime movers on the shelf and lose the specialty feel).

KKR parks a ton of Chinese money, that's just a global economy thing, but it will give some Academy shoppers heartburn.

they're an investment group. Investment groups buy companies, strip 'em down to make them more profitable, resell 'em at some point down the road. The bean counters will be crawling all over Academy to find ways to cut costs, boost profits - it's what they do.
