How often do you replace your tires?

I have a 2000 model F250 and it seems like every time I turn around I am replacing my tires. I think I will get 35,000 miles on my latest BFGoodrich 285's. Is this normal or should I be getting more miles on them? Should I move to a different brand of tire to get more miles? I use the truck for everything from daily driving to pulling trailers and running around the deer lease. I currently have 275,000 miles on my diesel.

I like to caveat the below statement with I know nothing about working on trucks or cars.

Have you replaced your shocks lately, my wife's Ford Escape was tearing up tires and it was because her shocks were blown. When we replaced her shocks, it surely made a better ride and wasn't tearing her tires up.

I have a 2000 F350. I also put on new tires every 35K or so. The last tires were Michellen's. I have over 35K on them now and still have plenty of TREAD

35,000 mile? That is why I do not use BFG tires. They don't last. I have a 2005 Dodge 2500 4x4 Cummings with 267,000 miles and am on my 3rd set of tires with maybe 15,000 left on the current set. After the OEM tires, that gave me 94,000 miles I have been using Delta Tires Sierra AT 285s. I make sure and rotate and balance at least every 5000 miles which is free at Delta Tires. I think the Sierra ATs are made by Cooper Tires for Delta.

94,000 miles on OEM tires? That sounds incredible. You are getting way more than twice the mileage that I am.

Do you think the tires make that much of a difference or do you think it is the rotate/balance that truly makes the difference? Or, 50-50 both?

Where do you buy Delta Tires? Never heard of them. You are certainly doing something right, 90k miles per set of tires is almost unheard of, especially on a heavy ole diesel. What is your secret to tire longevity?

On my work truck (08 Silverado 4x4) I change my tires out at 40K miles tops (last pair I only got 35K) and I run Mastercraft Courser CT's on it which get treated horrible due to my job. On my personal vehicle Sierra 1500 I run Michelin LTX's and change them out at around 60K miles. Both trucks get tires rotated at 5K or 10K miles...

Delta Tires is the name of the Shop. I think there are several in Texas. I go to the one in Corpus. As far as the mileage on the tires, I have them rotated and balanced at least every 5000 miles. As I said in my earlier post, I am on my third set of tires second set of Deltas and have 276,000 on the truck. I do alot of hwy driving but pull my bay boat from Refugio to Baffin and Corpus quite a bit. I think I have maybe 15 or 20,000 miles left on the set I have on right now. In fact, I am getting ready to put a new set of Delta's on the wife's Suburban.
