State Waters and Bays after Christmas

I know the weather is a wildcard this time of year, but I will be at the inlaws (Victoria area) the week after Christmas and have the ability/desire to try for some state snapper or fish the bays from Port Oconnor to maybe as far as Port Mansfield. I have a Triton 220LTS with a 225 Merc. Just looking for potential riders to split gas/bait (should not be much) if the family can't go, as I won't fish alone by boat. Very helpful if you know spots (I do have Rik's book) or the areas, as I have yet to dip my boat in the saltwater.

POrt Mansfield would be 100% my picking. Just go North from the Jetties. Also the ship wreck which is just a little SouthEast and has a bouy on it might not be bad this time of year. If weather is bad fish the North jetty on the gulf side and anchor within 15ft of the rocks and fish along the edge. Good bull reds, drum, maybe some trout on live shrimp. Use one split shot and small treble hook cast just out from the rocks and let it slow fall. Hang on for reds, trout and drum.

Wadefish for Cost Splitting

If you are willing to wadefish from the boat, I am willing to split costs. I would love to fish Pt. Mansfield near the land cut and West and East Matagorda Bay would probably be very productive.

I really only want to fish for big trout. If that sounds like something that interests you, let me know. I would be more than happy to give it a trial run.
