Well ... if it's anything like the adjacent county ... it's come and gone. Deer on the coast didn't seem to rut very hard this year for us ...

I have hunted Bee County for the past 5 years and it's hard to tell when the rut is "on". Someone has hunted our lease every weekend during the season and no one has seen bucks chasing does yet. There are a lot of rubs and pre rut activity going on, but nothing more. Hard to figure out.

The bucks were chasing does pretty hard a couple weeks before rifle season opened up. They are still doing a little clean up right now.

Im in Papalote between Skidmore and Sinton, second weekend of rifle season we saw a couple bucks chasing does. Had not seen any such activity till last weekend. We have an easement through 2 other ranches to get where I hunt, the first ranch is high fenced. I saw 2 different bucks trying to get into that high fence. As I pulled my truck closer they ran off so I turned the truck off and sat there, in a few minutes both bucks were back trying to get in. Later on in my stand I saw a small eight point that couldnt stay still.. kept running back and forth across the sendero chasing does.. So, that second weekend of rifle season was either pre rut or rut... this is either rut or second rut, tryin to get any unbread does.

We havent had much deer activity this year. We see about 4 or 5 deer a day... 3 years ago we were seeing 15 to 20 each time we sat in a blind.. I suppose the drought last couple years really took its toll.
