"No Problem" had some problems

Anyone on 2cool?? Know the story and cause ?

The Coast Guard and some good Samaritans helped
save a sinking vessel with four passengers about 20 miles off the
coast of Galveston Island.
The Coast Guard says it received a mayday from the owner of the
pleasure craft "No Problem" at 8:24 a.m. Saturday, stating that
the vessel was taking on water and in danger of sinking.
Two good Samaritans nearby were able to pass a dewatering pump
to the craft.
A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew located the vessel and
lowered a rescue swimmer and dewatering pump just after 9 a.m. The
rescue swimmer was able to stop most of the flooding and pump most
of the water out.
A response boat escorted the pleasure craft to the Galveston
Yacht Marina

Several boats, including a couple of head boats, responded and helped out. We asked for the position to be repeated, because the initial position reported was very close to ours. The pan pan was canceled about noon, because all aboard were safe.

We were the first on the scene to this 33 ft Mako with several boats arriving within minutes. We were 4 miles from the scene but because we did not have a pen and paper we could not write down the lat lon position of the boat in distress. He was speaking very fast (understandable) and we could not input the numbers into my Furuno quick enough. They said they only had about 5 minutes before their batteries were submerged and would lose their radio and bilge pumps. We were hoping the Coast Guard would repeat their coordinates but they did not initially. When we arrived "No Problem" had stabilized somewhat and they determined they had a cracked transom...ouch. I carry a life boat, sat phone, epirb, hand-held VHF and GPS. From now on I will carry a manual bilge pump and portable electric bilge pump in addition to a PEN AND PAPER. Amazing response from so many boaters especially considering we only saw one other boat going out.

Pretty intresting, not 10 minutes after the first mayday call it looked like the blue water Calvary arriving to the seen. The must have been at least 8 to 10 recreational boats on the scene asap. Kind of a good feeling to know that so many people took the time and effort to respond.

In regards to over the top, it was just a short delay before the captain got some fishing lessons.

33' Mako...the crack may go all the way to the transom but this shot looks to be towards the bow. I think Brian Medearis was on board according to what I have seen...maybe he will chime in.

UNSELFISH

In the future, if the captain has too much ballast, he will know where to start removing dead weight. The captain takes great joy in putting his friends on fish, keeping the boat on the "spot" calculating current and wind speed, anticipating their effects on how the baits will be presented to the intended species...."unselfishly" sacrificing his fishing so that his guests can enjoy themselves.......UN-SELF-FISH

Sorry for the confusion. My response was intended for Txfishman who was on my boat. He made a comment implying he finally gave me some fishing lessons. He did "smoke me" yesterday but I was happy for him that he finally caught some fish.

Seriously, we were all glad we were able to offer some help to "No Problem".
