Day one is TOUGH!

I had my last cigarette last night about 8:00 pm. I started taking Chantix seven days ago and I have to tell you, I am not thinking that this Chantix makes it as easy as I hear people talking about. My whole body aches, my lungs hurt, man I feel like I am about to fall apart. When does this start getting easier? I specifically quit during the week so I did not have to sit around the house all weekend and feel this way. Does this pass in a day or two?

give yourself 3 dayS, then it will get better in a few weeks. Man if I can do it you can too. Life gets better when you know you have kicked the habit. It takes effort. I took a calender and x'ed out each day I did not smoke. I wanted that next day and before you know it....................a month is gone by, then another and another. The calender worked for me!! Get your mind and hands busy and feel proud your going to join the non smokers. I sure was!! And still am!!!

All BS aside, it took 2weeks before things started to mellow out a little. The 1st week being the worst. I quit almost 3yrs ago (new years resolution) and have left them alone since. You are stronger and smarter than any cigarette. Occupy your mind with hobbies or something. Dive headfirst into a project you've been puttin off. Pick up a long book and finish it. Find something to keep your mind active, and you are 1/2 way home.

well put.....X 10!!!

i needed to see progress, something i could look at physically to give me some kind of incentive to keep going. like i said in an earlier post here, i chewed and smoked BOTH for years and years. i am now tobacco free since may the 6th 2010. i quit the cigs in feb 2010 and then the chew. so been about 5 months totally tobacco free and im LOVING IT!! i DID IT!! and you can too, you can do it. here is a couple pics of ONE! of my incentives that i used while i was away in arkansas working and renting a little duplex. this is something else that helped me out. my two roommates from the job were non smokers so that was a huge help. this is just one way that helped me with the calender thing. every day you will put an X on the day you prevail. it worked for me. hope this helps someone, i really do, smoking is terrible for the whole body, very difficult to quit but can be done!!!!

Are you on the one pill a day right now for the first week? If so it tells you that you can smoke for that week...It gives time for the chantix to start working... I used it and did not see that part...LOL...but I was doing better after about a week and I admit that I saved butts and lite them up...

I am now 221 days smoke free and I love being smoke free...My family, none that have ever smoked love my nonsmoking too.

You will be doing better in a few days.....
And you will be glad that you quit..

Money saved will pay for a lot of fishing trips or new gear....

DON'T GIVE UP....

You must go through this phase.

Only you can decide how many times you want to go through it.

Congratulations and truly the best of luck to you.

pasadena1944 hit a good point. the money you save you can do alot with. i was spending $20 bucks a day on smokes and chew. when i quit smoking then it was 2 pouches of chew a day still $20 bucks or more. this equates to about $600 bucks a month. yes, its alot and its very true. however, here is yet another incentive that helped me quit. i started thinking , man.......with what i spend on tobacco, i could be making a boat payment AND!! saving some money. so thats what i did. i bought myself a new boat with a payment of $397 bucks a month and added a couple hundred more to my monthly savings. also, my wife is battling lung cancer, she has smoked her whole life and is only 48. sooooo.........after seeing what i have...........everyone!! neeeds to try and quit. we were just paying the tobacco companies to kill our selfs. how stupid is that? here is the new boat that the tobacco savings money has bought us and we are having fun!!!
