Not sure where you're applying the gel coat. If rolling it onto the interior or spraying it to the exterior the amount of catalyst is normally the same either way.
First, I hope you're in a shaded, well ventilated area and not your garage (your wife or other will kill you when the fumes get into the carpet, curtains, walls and stay there for years).
Typically, you'll want to mix 15 to 20 cc of hardener per quart of gel. 15cc is great on a hot day. Then, work fast!
If it's an interior hull project, add a cap full of "wax solution" to it to help with the initial cure. After gelling and webbing the interior, apply a fine mist coat of PVA green with a spray gun at 80 psi. It'll really help the cure and later washes off with water. NO black soled shoes for at least a month.
If an exterior repair or complete bottom redo, no wax, just PVA. Then, it's wet sand and polish time.
