Texas City Grand Opening...

Saw the Dike setting up a Big Tent getting ready for the Grand Opening... all hopes that it would be a better place were shot down when I heard that they had planned to send out Access Stickers with the Municipal Bill (Water I think)... So it sounds like every Texas City Citizen will have free access. So much for keeping it to those who appreciate it...

I guess citizens were supposed to go to the Municipal building and pick them up but there was some buzz that they were just wanted to mail them out!

Let's hope you have to go down and pick one up vs. being handed one!

Maybe this will help control the trash problem such as discarded diapers, cast nets, styrefoam containers, beer cans and bottles etc. Could also deter Injun Joe and his mighty band of pan handlers.

They are charging $5 on Fri, Sat & Sun
No charge during the week
OK with me if they use the $ to provide security, pick up trash and clean the portajohns

I went straight to the Flood Gate!

I'm thinking most people who only listen to Rap and Daytime Television aren't going to know for a little while! Hope to get some good times in this week early AM. I sure hope it is better... Sure some thugs out there are thinking about who they can "Jack" as THEY say!!!!

This morning my dad and I arrived at the dike at 6:05 am to see the goin's on. No line! Apparently they opened earlier than they stated (6am). Received ticket #49 for non-resident entry fee. 25 MPH speed limit seemed too slow to drive the dike, but we complied. First evidence of trash observed at 6:12am, turned around and saw it came from a "local" resident...go figure.

Fished a bit at the end with some hardware. No Luck. Others around us did well on the bottom with mullet and shrimp. 1 slot red and two slightly oversized reds that were tagged. All this in a 1 1/2 of arrival.

2 hours after the opening, we already saw 3 crews of 2 workers starting to pick up trash...guess to get ahead of the game so to speak. Porta potti's staged and at decent intervals.

The dike looks very nice. Ramps look great and functional...the road is smooth and new!

For the record...I'm glad the dike is back and every out there I saw was having a great time...as it should be.
