Do you have a digital video camera? Come in here..

I haven't bought a video camera since the old days of VHS/C formats.

Looking for a new, compact, NOT TOO EXPENSIVE, reliable video camera.

What's better. Burn to hard drive on camera and watch on TV, or burn to mini DVD ???

I know nothing about these new fangdled cameras...

Little help here.... LOL

What is going to be the final destination for the videos? Are you looking for something to keep and archive for family home movies, looking for something that will be easy to upload to youtube, vimeo, etc, or looking for something to produce website or training content? Also, do you want to do your own final editing on a PC with editing SW? If your already using software to edit, which codec format does your SW require and support. Knowing this will help narrow down what will work best for you.

Don't own a video camera. Do have point and shoot photo camera . The new models have 720p ,even 1080p video shooting capabilities. They record to SDHC cards, you can transfer data to PC, or use AV ,HDMI display direct to TV.

I'm wanting to archive/catalog.

We are taking a pre Christmas trip to Crested Butte Colorado and I'd really like to video much of the trip along with subsequent family gatherings.

Pretty simple. No interest really in the editing aspect.

Looks like a great choice.

Will it play straight on my television or would I have to dump to a computer and burn to DVD, etc. ??
