walk in wade - pelican Island

Plan on going to Pelican Island for a walk in wade tomorrow afternoon. Can anyone give me some advice as to what to expect as far as the bottom goes. Are there any drop - offs to look out for? Any other advice about the area would be great, is it a productive area?

Thanks for the help

In my experience, the bottom is usually pretty solid (sand or hard mud) near the bridge to Pelican Island and also in the channel on the right side before you get to Seawolf Park. On the left side it's pretty solid for about 1/3 mile then gets real muddy and tough to wade the further back you go. Good luck!

The old quarantine area on the right just before entering Sea Wolf Park, along the Galveston Ship Channel, has a hard bottom but there is debris on the bottom in a few areas so when wading walk slowly, there are also some very sudden dropoffs/holes near the channel so be careful but there is some very good fishing in that area. On the left side before entering the park is a hard sand bottom with some mud mixed in and it's not to bad, never caught much along that long beach front.
