I have been looking at them on e-bay for a while. How did he have his license plate located with a light?

Fits a 2" PVC and the long pieces don't come with it. I like em too. Gonna gussy up the Jon boat a little. Surprised they don't advertise here.

Do you "Have" to have a light on your license plate by law? If not.....I am buying these and putting an end to my light problems.

Yes....you do have to illuminate your license plate. So....if anyone has installed these lights show me what you did to keep your plate illuminated.

This is all I could find. This was my concern.

20.18 License Plate Lamp. Either a taillamp or a separate lamp shall be so constructed and placed as to illuminate with a white light the rear registration plate and render it clearly legible for a distance of 50 feet to the rear. Any such lamp shall be so wired as to be lighted when the head lamps or auxiliary driving lamps are lighted.
On vehicles such as truck-tractors which require no rear registration plate, a license plate lamp would not be required. If two license plates are issued, a license plate lamp is required.
