Wondering if a compression plate (whale tail) really makes much difference. I have never used one BUT I see a LOT of them on motors.
Will it let you run a little shallower (more trim up)?
Does it stabalize the boat?
Thoughts!
For my boat it made a huge difference. My boat wanted to "porpoise" really bad until I put the whale tail on. After I put it on it just shoots up on a plane.
I have a 19ft x 72in Boatright. Runs great, just seems to not run as shallow as I expected it to. I can only trim up a little from all the way down before I start to hear the motor cavitate. I was thinking the compression plate Boatright makes might make it to where I could trim up a little more.
I don't have a porposing problem or a hole shot problem.
Just wondering if others thought it would be worth spnding the $250 for the compression plate.
50 $ academy works as well
I have 19 ft with a k.a$s yam 150 n it puts to plane in 2 seconds. I take it off once in a while. To Chechen.. it helps a bit
