Bayou Vista and Pelican Island

Fun day but no fish. Started fishing around 4:00 am (outgoing tide) in the lake north of Hwy 6 by Bayou Vista. Looked good and a guy by the bridge said he caught a couple of dink reds and one keeper on live shrimp. I had no luck. Drove to Seawolf but didn't go in. Wind stopped and it was real calm. Only saw 1 car parked along the side of the road and when I watched him the only thing he caught was a snag. Ended up wading on the right side just before you go over the bridge from Seawolf back to I-45 (incoming tide). Couple people there and a few boats but no one was catching anything. Very overcast. Didn't see any bait. Fished with fresh dead shrimp under a cork, Storm Wildeye (like a Corky), mullet jig tipped with shrimp, and a Catch Jr. mullet imitation Mirrorlure but not one bite...again. Had a good time just being out there. Tested my new breathable Magellan Mag2 waders from Academy for $99 and they worked great. Good luck!
