Peyton Manning Best Ever???
I was watching the Colts/Jags game last night and was thinking... if Peyton wins the Super Bowl this year, is he the best QB ever to play the game? I know there is a short list of amazing Hall of Fame QB's... but I dont think Manning takes a back seat to any of them. What pushed me over the edge on this is what HE has done this season...
At the beginning of this year, I really thought the Colts would take a step back. I still thought they would win the division, but losing Tony Dungy... not having a stud running back... having only one go to receiver in Wayne... Dallas Clark getting older... an average defense with Bob Sanders out... and despite all of this, the Colts are undefeated??? All I can say is Peyton Manning.
I am not going to go into super detail on carrer stats... but check these out
10 Pro Bowl's (lock for this year)
1st all time in carrer passing yards per game
117-59 all time record
10 season's with 4000 yards passing (10 out of his 12 years) (1st all time and second on the list has 5 or 6)
366 TD's and 180 INTS
and after all of this... Peyton is still in the prime of his career. I would think he still has 3-4 very productive years left (unfortunately for the Texans) I think when he retires, there will be no doubt that he is the best QB ever, but I think you can make a case he may already be there.
Also, for those ingorant people (crazy cowboy) doesnt think there is an "it factor" for certain athletes... Peyton is a perfect example. Peyton flat out makes his teamates around him better. Manning is not the most athletic... not fast at all, has a strong arm... but not the strongest... but somehow he just wins.

I think he is, and proving it this year. Elway and Montana were on my short list because you knew if they got the ball last, their respective team was going to win. Well, Peyton is proving it this season, with 7 4th qtr comeback wins for which is NFL's best. Yeah he only has 1 superbowl win so far, but he definitely has the "it" factor. He has made Tony Dungee a lot of money, as well as the old OC for Indy.

Pretty good argument. I can't think of none better. Maybe Dan Pastorini?

Does he need to win one more Super Bowl to state his case?

I don't think so. It's tough to figure he's only won one. Maybe I just think so because I had to see him beat my team every year, twice a year lol.

Depends on what criteria you are judging him on. Pure stats or winning Playoffs/Superbowls. Stats wise its a no brainer, he is one of the very best alltime. The other well we will just have to wait and see. Right now Trent Dilfer has as many SB wins and he trails Elway and Favre (QB's with comparable stats).

Didn't Favre only win 1? Oh well, I am basing my opinion on modern day qbs. Anything post 80s. I think that there have been better qbs I've heard some unbelievable stories about guys like Sammy Baugh that will never be duplicated. I think if you base your criteria on SB wins you have to consider Montana, Brady, Aikman. But if the category is best all around qb it would Manning. Also if superbowls are aside, you need to consider Dan Marino.

POC...I sure can't argue your case. My favorite part about watching him is his football intelligence. He is probably the most scientific/brilliant quarterbacks I have ever seen run an offense (I am on 25 though). The man is a chess player that happens to be able to throw a football 70 yards.

You are correct. My bad. I was thinking he was 2 for 3 but he has only been to two.

I liked what he said after the game. He was always a step ahead of the reporter. Guy knows how to conduct an interview as much as he can dish out the football. A couple passes to clark were perfect placed in triple coverage.
