Haynie Bigfoot vs. Stoner Cat

After much research, I have been set on buying a used Haynie Bigfoot.

Fishing the Rockport area exclusively, it seemed that the Bigfoot was perfect by being able to handle rough water crossing Aransas bay, the skinny water in Estes flats, and large enough to accompany a group of 4 anglers in the boat.

However, I stumbled across a Stoner Cat for sale and after doing some internet research I am looking for some input on the Stoner Cat. It appears that it will do everything just as well as the bigfoot and might even do it using less horsepower and with a shallower draft.

Anyone care to share an opinion or experience?

Thanks.

I dont know the stoner but you may want to look at resell value also. The haynies hold theirs fairly well. Hope you get what you want!!

sounds like you are looking for a Shallow Sport Mod V. Really good deal on one in the classifieds.

Yeah hard to resale, since no one buys them in the first place.

I have a Stoner super cat and am very pleased. I don't go north of the JFK and the Stoner is an ideal hull for fishing down south. I have never been in a bigfoot but that hull may be a better choice for fishing out of Rockport. The Stoner does OK in Baffin chop due to the 22'6" length but it certainly is no v-hull. Like most cats it shines in the shallow stuff. Let me know if you need any specifics or want to hear any war stories.

Bigfoot and Cat

I have been in both boats recently. Bigfoot smoother. Cat is more efficient with same horsepower. Getting 50+ with 150 HPDI, low to mid 40's with foot. Propping can swing numbers but not much. I am still unsure on shallow holeshot (never measured) between bigfoot and non tunnel v-bottom like the HO or xtreme hopefully guys from chris's can give some details. Handling would also go with the foot cuz of the v. Cat still likes to slide a tad. Cat is definitely shallower however, so basically it depends on depth needed and price.
thanks

OK will throw another option at you. I have fished Rockport for the last 10 or so years and grew up around POC. About 5 or so years ago was set on buying a 21 Kenner tunnel, one of my best friends is a guide out of POC and happened to be running a Bluewave for a while and sold me that it would suit my fishing the best.
I can tell you that it has clearly been the best decision that I've made and if I were to buy another I'd buy the exact same boat.
We are on N. Fulton Beach Rd and I cross Aransas Bay in 10-30 mph chop to get to the island. Once there I run north to the small openings between the reefs that are extremely shallow, as I've pushed the boat to its limits I have even wandered into the lakes of St. Joe.
I am a Bluewave guy for sure and think you would enjoy one as well.
